Commander, Abu Yusuf

The Syrian army has rejected Islamic State (IS) claims about its advances in the Southern outskirts of Deir Ezzor city and underlined its “full control over the Panorama district,” a field commander said on Tuesday.
The Syrian army engaged in “fierce clashes” with IS militants who tried to prevail over government forces' positions in Panorama in the Southern entrance of Deir Ezzor city, killing a large number of them and repelling their attack, he added.
The commander further added that the army men have gone on the offensive and are trying hard to take back the few lost positions to the IS, he said, adding that IS’s field commander, Abu Yusuf, has been killed in the clashes.
In relevant developments in the province on Monday, the army and popular forces continued military operations to retake regions between the Deir Ezzor airbase and the city, advancing in certain areas.
The government troops could drive back the ISIL terrorists from the cemetery (the region between Deir Ezz0r city and the airbase) and they also could purge the terrorists from the heights overlooking the city's cemetery.
They also forced the ISIL to withdraw from al-Boulman region after fierce clashes.
During the clashes, over 20 ISIL terrorists were killed and tens of others were wounded.
