US President Donald Trump threatened to shut down the federal government in order to get a border wall built with the borders of Mexico, CNN reported on Wednesday. 

Trump made these remarks during a speech at a rally in Phoenix in Arizona in front of his supporters. 

The United States federal government shutdown means that the government stops providing services except the essential ones which continue in its services like the police, the armed forces and mail service. 

The government shutdown happens when the Congress and the President fail to pass legislation funding government operations and agencies.
