A female employee in the Tunisian airline company attempted suicide by setting herself on fire after her work contract was terminated. Zeina al-Arabi tried to kill herself at Gafsa airport when the rest of her colleagues’ contracts were renewed and hers was not. However, people in the airport quickly intervened and stopped her from setting herself on fire. Zeina had reported a complaint to the Tunisian Minister of Transport, Abdul Karim al-Harouni against her General Manager, during his visit to the airport. Suicide attempts are notably increasing in Tunisia, especially following the revolutionary figure of January 14, Mohamed Bouazizi, who set himself on fire in protest of corruption in the country. This phenomenon is becoming a tradition attempted by the unemployed Tunisian youth who suffer exclusion, even after the revolution.
