Two armed members of al-Qaeda belonging to the Islamic Maghreb were killed on Saturday evening by the Algerian Anti-Terrorism Unit. The two members were killed in the area of Boumerdes, 40 km East of Algiers. Local sources have reported that the army has retrieved their weaponry, including a Kalashnikov. The operation came after an intensive follow up of all the movements from the armed groups linked to the Droukdel led al-Qaeda group. One of the people killed during the clashes has been identified as T.Y., a very dangerous member of al-Qaeda. The other has not yet been identified.
