Violent clashes between Taliban, IS left many casualties

At least 91 militants were killed and dozens injured in an initial toll of clashes between IS and Taliban movements, in Darzab district, northern of Jawzjan, the Afghan authorities said Wednesday.

Spokesman for the Jawzjan governor. Mohammad Reza Ghafoori, said that the clashes, that are still taking place, left many casualties in the ranks of Taliban movement. Ghafoori stressed, in a press statements, that at least 76 of Taliban militants and 15 members of IS killed and many others injured from the both side.

Abdul Hafiz Khashia, a spokesman for the local police, said the clashes did not result in civilian casualties. Jawzjan state is one of the relatively troubled provinces of northern Afghanistan, where armed anti-government militant groups operate in some areas.
