Sudanese Minister of Justice Mohamed Beshara Dosa has launched an investigation into the suspected smuggling of weapons into Khartoum. A special committee formed of police officers, army officials intelligence officials and judges will investigate this matter. The minister of Justice also urged the Sudanese to report any suspicious behaviour or any individual carrying weapons.The Minister also gave instructions to speed up the investigations. Police have seized weapons and ammunition in several places in Khartoum believed to come from South Kordofan. Interior Minister Ibrahim Mahmoud demanded the draft of a strategy to prevent the smuggling of weapons at the borders, as this issue has become a threat to the stability of the region.   Sudanese al-Ray el-Aam newspaper stated that it was surprising that the authorities did not reveal who was behind these smuggling operations.   The newspaper added that these operations started with automatic machine gun and rifles. The newspaper urged the authorities to find the instigators of these operations in order to avoid riots, or even a war as these peopel are targeting the national security of the country.
