At least 11 Yemenis have been injured on Wednesday evening in Aden during discord between supporters from two different demonstrations. Local sources in Aden city told Arabstoday that the violent clashes took place between two groups; one belonging to the Reform Party and the other to the Southern Movement. Individuals from both parties gathered in the main street in Crater district in the city of Aden, early on Wednesday night. The Reform party were celebrating the 50th anniversary of the “September Revolution” in northern Yemen against the royal rule of the Zaydi Imamate, whilst the Southern Movement was demanding secession from the north of Yemen. Sources added that 11 demonstrators were wounded during clashes between dozens of supporters who used stones, wood and sharp tools to fight. The sources confirmed that the police intervened to calm the atmosphere down and identify a different path for each demonstration. However tension and fear of renewed clashes has prevailed within the city.
