About 1.3 million people from around the world arrived in Saudi Arabiaduring the past days to perform Hajj for this year in Mecca, the holiest city in Islam, the Saudi General Directorate of Passports (GDP) announced on Thursday.

In a statement, the GDP said that some 1,245 million pilgrims have arrived by air, 65,594 by land, along with 12,723 by sea.

The Hajj is obligatory once in a lifetime on every Muslim who can afford the journey.
