Authorities in Florida, USA executed an American man convicted of killing 3 tourists. His execution comes two hours after another American had also been executed for killing his three kids in Ohio, USA.
The figure of capital punishment verdicts in the United States this year (2011) comes to 41 including the latest two executions.
According to the Prisons Department in Florida, Oba Chandler, 65, had been in death row for the past 17 years until he was finally executed with a lethal injection and succumbed at 16:25 GMT.
A few hours before Chandler's execution time, the US Supreme court refused an appeal for deferment of his execution.
Chandler received the death sentence when he was found guilty of killing a woman and her two teenage daughters in Ohio in 1989.
According to the court, the woman and her two daughters were vacationing in Florida when he coaxed them to his boat, raped them and threw them alive into deep waters whilst they were taut to a cement block.
This sentence was the 71st death sentence which was implemented in Florida State since capital punishment was first enforced in 1976.
Two and a half hours earlier on, the Ohio authorities executed another convict –Reginald Brooks – for killing his three children.
