A pair of new F-15K fighter jets were delivered to South Korea from US defense contractor Boeing, bringing the total number of the advanced fighter in the country to 49, Air Force officials said Tuesday. The latest delivery is part of the Air Force\'s ongoing acquisition of 21 F-15K Slam Eagle jets under the second-phase of its fighter jet modernization project signed with Boeing in 2008. The first-phase procurement of 40 F-15K jets was completed in 2008, South Korea\'s (Yonhap) news agency reported. \"The new F-15K fighter jets with tail numbers 49 and 50 arrived yesterday at the 11th Fighter Wing in Daegu,\" an Air Force official said. The remaining 11 F-15K fighters will be handed over to the Air Force by March next year, according to the official. With a combat range of 1,800 kilometers, the F-15K is an advanced variant of the combat-proven F-15E, it said.
