Five people were killed Saturday in a fire that razed several residential and commercial structures in the southern Philippines, a regional army spokesman said. The victims were 15 to 20 and were asleep when the fire burned down their rented house before dawn in Valencia town in Bukidnon province, 855 kilometres south of Manila, Major Julio Osias said. Three more people suffered burns in the fire, which destroyed several houses, a bakery and a commercial building, he said. Fire officials were investigating the cause.
