Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan inaugurated here this morning, the second Conference of Palestinian Ambassadors, which is held as part of Palestinian preparations for going to the United Nations in September. In an inaugural address, President Abbas said the option to go to the United Nations was taken by the Palestinian after negotiations were disrupted, stressing that it ” is not a unilateral action.    He explained, if we went to the Security Council, whatever be its outcome, that does not prevent a return to negotiations with the Israelis because there are issues that cannot be resolved through the Security Council any other (body) , but are rather resolved through negotiations. ”    Abbas added that many years were spent in order to reach a result through negotiations, but these days we see that the is no result for the negotiations due to the Israeli intransigence, ”after we held important and meaningful negotiations and were about to reach an agreement with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert when we discussed all key issues, and each party knew and understood the other’s position.”
