Aden's police chief today survived an assassination attempt, the second in a week, it was announced.

According to media sources, a bomb-laden car in Aden's Mansura district exploded as General Shallal Shayae's convoy passed, damaging military vehicles.

Shayae himself escaped unharmed, according to his aides, but medical sources said that five of his guards were killed and several others were wounded.
