The Foreign Ministers of the Arab States and Japan have affirmed full support to the Palestinian people right to have their own independent, viable and geographically linked state on the pre-fourth of June, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem its capital.

They stressed the importance to find a just, lasting and comprehensive solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict based on the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions, in particular UN resolution 2234 of 2016, calling on the international community to pressure Israel to stop the actions and activities aimed at Judaizing the city of Al-Quds.

This came in the joint final statement issued by the 1st session of the Ministerial meeting of the Arab-Japanese political dialogue which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League yesterday. The UAE's delegation to the meeting was chaired by Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

The ministers lauded the Japanese initiative to beef up economic and social development in Palestinian territories, reiterating support to the international efforts to find peaceful political solutions to the conflicts in Syria, Libya, Yemen and Sudan and to help restore stability and security in the Middle East region.

They also called for the creation of nuclear-free Middle East.

On mutual relations, the ministers underlined the need for increasing political, economic, and humanitarian, developmental, educational, scientific human resources development cooperation.
