Arab Parliament Speaker Ali Salem Al-Daqbasi has called on Arab countries to take firm positions and to break the wall of Arab silence regarding developments in some Arab countries. Al-Daqbasi called for an emergency Arab summit to discuss the deterioration of conditions in the Arab world and to take tough measures to stop the killing of citizens, abuse of their dignity, infringement on their liberties and commit brutality against them. In a statement today on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, Al-Daqbasi said such massacres are incompatible with international human rights conventions, the Arab Declaration of Human Rights and Arab constitutions which underlined the respect for human rights and human dignity. He said the image of the Arab world, which drew the respect and admiration of the entire world, has been shaken due to the massacres committed against Arab peoples, adding that forces hostile to the status and role of the Arab world, had penetrated its solidarity and cohesion in an attempt to undermine its national unity and to plant the seeds of sectarian sedition between the sons of one homeland and to work for partitioning these countries. Al-Daqbasi called the UN Human Rights Council to send a fact-finding missions to these countries, to learn about the reality of what is going on there, and called on Arab states to join forces in order to restore the nation''s strength and status among nations.
