Arab Region Parliamentarians Against Corruption (ARPAC) chairman Dr. Nasser Al-Sanea and representatives of ARPAC in Egypt on Monday met with the Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Ali Al-Selmi discussing efforts exerted by Egypt to combat corruption, after Jan 25 revolution. Emerging from the meeting, Al-Sanea told Kuwait News Agency that the Deputy Prime Minister briefed the delegation on the efforts exerted by the Egyptian government in the fight against corruption, particularly in the area of the activation of prosecutions against persons that were charged with corruption. Al-Sanea said the deletgation briefed Al-Selmi about efforts undertaken by the ARPAC on regional and international levels, especially the role of the branch of the organization in Cairo, headed by Dr. Gamal Zahran. The delegation praised the efforts of the Egyptian government against corruption and ways to combat it, said Al-Sanea, stressing the readiness of the ARPAC's branch in Egypt to provide any support or assistance to the government. On his part, Dr. Zahran said the delegation presented to Al-Selmi a report on the situation in Egypt regarding the combat against corruption, in comparison with international standards, and solutions to tackle the issue.
