The Kingdom of Bahrain announced the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Republic of Palau, where a joint statement was signed to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This came as a result of the two countries' wish to develop peaceful and cooperative relations in the political, economic, social, humanitarian, cultural and scientific fields in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, expressed the Kingdom's keenness to enhance its cooperation with the Republic of Palau in the political, economic and other fields and to take advantage of the available opportunities to serve the common interests of both countries.
The Kingdom of Bahrain also announced the establishment of diplomatic relations with Jamaica, where a joint statement was signed to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries at the United Nations headquarters in New York. This came as part of the efforts of the two countries to strengthen their bilateral relations.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that this step will contribute to the development of joint cooperation between the two countries at various fields, and that it will also result in enhancing coordination regarding issues of mutual interest.
