Bahrain keenness to prop up UN efforts reiterated

Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and those of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister, and HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, wishing him success in leading the United Nations at this crucial phase.
This came as Shaikh Khalid met the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at the UN headquarters in New York, in the presence of Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Dr. Shaikha Mariam bint Hassan Al Khalifa, SCW Secretary General Hala Al Ansari and Chair of the Bahraini Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR) Shaikha Haya bint Rashid Al Khalifa. 
The minister also conveyed to the UN Chief greetings of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King and SCW President, wishing him a fruitful career in his new post as UN Secretary General so as this key international organization could proceed with its noble efforts in the service of humanity.
The minister hailed the UN Commission on the Status of Women for the on-going care it accords to the outstanding initiatives aimed to improve women’s conditions, recently embodied in UN’s adoption of HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa's Global Award for Women Empowerment as another step forward in the course of women’s progress across the world.
"This reflects the strong cooperation ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the UN and the quantum achievements of Bahraini women in light of the Kingdom’s keenness to reinforce women’s status and to help them prove themselves in all work fields as important partners in community development and shaping Bahrain’s future.
The minister expressed his confidence in Guterres’ ability to underpin UN role in today’s world which is being torn apart by problems and overlapping crises, something that necessitates concerted efforts and closer international cooperation to overcome obstacles and to attain a brighter and more prosperous future for humanity.
In this context, the minister affirmed the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to prop up UN efforts to underpin world security and stability and to reinforce peaceful co-existence worldwide and inter-states cooperation towards UN-Member States’ achievement of comprehensive sustainable development goals. 
The minister underlined the need for the High Commissioner’s Office for Human Rights to commit itself to cooperation and consultation with the Kingdom of Bahrain on the basis of respect of its sovereignty and its human rights achievements that made it an example worth emulating.
This, the minister said, was a by-product of Bahrain’s solid constitutional institutions, national projects and plans and its ongoing initiatives to reinforce and protect human rights and interact positively with the UN and friendly countries.
For his part, the UN Chief has greatly valued Bahrain’s cooperation with the United Nations and UN-affiliated agencies in the fields that would cater for humanity and attain world stability and peace, wishing the Kingdom constant progress and prosperity.
The meeting also touched on the most important regional and global developments as well issues of common concern.
