The United Kingdom is set to be an active partner in the realization of Saudi Arabia’s 2030 Vision, British Ambassador Simon Collis told Arab News in Riyadh on Sunday. The envoy was inaugurating a new Photo Exhibition marking 100 years of relations between the Kingdom and Great Britain at the Alaan Artspace in the capital. The founder of the Alaan Artspace, Princess Neama Al-Sudairi, was also present at the event.
In addition to the photo exhibition, a commemorative book of photographs which was specially produced by the British government for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman was also revealed at the show. The British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond formally presented the maiden copy of the book to King Salman in Jeddah on May 29. "Under the Kingdom’s new program, the United Kingdom can participate in new ways in terms of education, health care and financial services,” the envoy said. He also said that his country has worked out a special program with the GCC whereby the Kingdom has the major share in its operations.
Speaking about the exhibition, he said that it is a story told through the pictures of a relationship that is historic and enduring, and which has a great future. "The book and the exhibition endeavor to celebrate a century of friendship and diplomatic relations between the Kingdom and the United Kingdom following the signing of the Darin Treaty on Dec. 26, 1915 and its ratification by both countries in July 1916."
The exhibition of over 40 pictures vividly represent the strong ties between the two countries. The exhibition will tour venues in Riyadh and will also be on display in Jeddah and Alkhobar. During the holy month of Ramadan, it will be on display at the Granada Mall in Riyadh and subsequently at the Four Seasons Hotel in the capital.
