Head of Denmark’s Socialist People’s Party, Villy Søvndal, said Wednesday that recognizing a Palestinian state is important and UN recognition is “axiomatic.” Søvndal, whose party is the second-largest opposition one in Denmark, said in an interview with the Danish daily Politiken: “We can see that, and so can many other countries that will recognize the Palestinian state,” indicating his readiness to work with other European Union state members to join the recognition campaign of the Palestinian state at the UN this September.
