Cairo - Arab Today
Kuwait has said it is interested in partaking in meetings of senior Arab officials on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and weapons of mass destruction (WMDs).
The remark was made by Kuwaiti Ambassador to Austria and its permanent delegate at the UN in Vienna, Sadeq Marafi, to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the sidelines of the 41st meeting of the committee of senior Arab officials
"We are eager to attend, at a high level, these meetings, and support the Arab position. We are still consulting about a single strong stance on disarmament and a nuclear-free Middle East," he said.
He added that the topic of Israeli nuclear weapons was already put on the agenda of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meetings.
The three-day meeting focuses on a set of disarmament-bearing recommendations made by the committee during its previous meetings, KUNA reported.
