Egypt and NATO

Endorsing for first time a resident Egyptian diplomat at NATO marks a new stage of cooperation between Egypt and NATO.

This will offer Egypt a great chance to expound its vision on the challenges besetting the Middle East and North Africa regions.

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is due to visit NATO HQ in Brussels on Monday where he will hold talks with NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg.

Stoltenberg's assistant for security threats is due in Egypt by the end of Mach for talks of issues of mutual concern.

A NATO source speaking on condition of anonymity said Egypt is an important regional state in addition to its strategic location.

The source highlighted the strong partnership and high-level talks between Egypt and NATO.

The source referred to an Egyptian-NATO cooperation program in the field of mines disposal.
