Shabwa - Arab Today
The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, has restored the power supply in Rudum in Shabwa Governorate, Yemen, after a total two-year power outage.
Mohammed Saif Al Muhairi, Head of the ERC Team, stated that the ERC has worked closely with the Public Corporation for Electricity, PCE, in Shabwa, as well as a popular committee of Rudum residents, to carry out the maintenance of the electricity network and address its issues, which were caused by storms and the lack of maintenance since the start of the coup by the Houthi-Saleh militias against the legitimate Yemeni government.
Awad Al Ahmadi, Director of the PCE in Shabwa, thanked the UAE and its humanitarian arm, the ERC, for their efforts to ease the suffering of the Yemenis. He added that the ERC has supplied 36,000 litres of diesel every day on a daily basis to the Shabwa Power Plant, to generate electricity for the various districts of the governorate.
The people of Rudum expressed their pleasure over the restoration of the local power supply while thanking the leadership, government and people of the UAE for their continuous humanitarian and relief support.
