Ayman Ayad, Cairo's European Union Delegation Embassy’s Program Manager for Water and Utilities, asserted on Sunday that Egypt is one of the best counties in water efficiency in Africa and the Middle East.

In statements on the sidelines of a three-day workshop in Ain Sokhna city, Ayad added that drinking water in Egypt is totally safe.

The workshop is organized by the EU in cooperation with the Egyptian Water and Waste Water Holding Company and UNESCO. It focuses on social networks’ role in rationalization of water consumption.

Ayad also said that the EU and Irrigation Ministry are cooperating in implementing a new project at a cost of 4.5 million euros that aims to train Egyptian cadres.

During the workshop, Cairo's European Union Delegation Embassy Economic Section Head Angel Gutierrez Hidalgo and Communications Coordinator Nagla el Bediri discussed several issues pertaining to the rationalization of water consumption.

Earlier, the Water and Waste Water Holding Company launched a competition in November to encourage students to design a campaign that aims to promote rationalization of water consumption.
