Some 168 persons, injured during clashes between the sit-in protestors and personnel of law enforcement agencies here at the Faizabad Interchange, have been shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS),
a PIMS senior official said Saturday.
PIMS Administrator Dr Altaf Hussain told APP that the injured included 64 policemen, 53 Frontier Constabulary personnel and 51 civilians, who received injuries mainly because of stones thrown by the protesters and
suffocation from tear-gas shelling.
He said most of the injured had been discharged after giving necessary medical treatment while only 52 were
still admitted to the hospital, who were stable condition.
As many as 17 injured were shifted to Poly Clinic hospital, 15 of the were policemen, while 47 injured were
moved to Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi, including four policemen. Some injured were shifted to Holy Family
Hospital Rawalpindi.
It may be added that two main hospitals of the federal capital, including Federal Government Poly Clinic (FGPC) and PIMS were put on high alert, with allocation of sufficient beds and provision of sufficient quantity of medicines.
Similarly, ambulances were arranged to shift the injured from Faizabad to the hospitals.
