French Foreign Ministry spokesman Romain Nadal on Tuesday said Paris calls for respecting diplomatic headquarters' immunity under the Vienna Convention.

In a press conference, Nadal added that the UN Security Council on Monday strongly condemned an attack on the Saudi embassy in Tehran.

France urges easing the escalating diplomatic row between the two countries, he said.

Saudi Arabia broke off diplomatic ties with Iran on Sunday after protesters ransacked and set fire to the Saudi Embassy in Tehran and the consulate in Mashhad.
