France urged Israel on Friday to reverse its decision of building a new part of the West Bank separation wall.
Israel began construction on a controversial part of its separation barrier in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, near a Palestinian Christian town.
French Foreign Ministry Spokesman Romain Nadal said that such wall will affect dozens of Palestinian families and is a new obstacle to economic and social development in Bethlehem.
Israel began building the barrier of walls and fences inside the occupied West Bank in 2002 at the height of the second Palestinian intifada (uprising).
The International Court of Justice ruled in 2004 that construction of the barrier was illegal and, like the UN General Assembly, demanded it be dismantled.
