The Fatwa monitoring observatory of Egypt's Darul Iftaa stressed that the expected meeting between Pope Francis of the Vatican and Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed el Tayyeb refutes claims of Takfiri groups that conflict is the core of relations governing Muslims with Christians.
The meeting, according to a report by the observatory, is the best proof of dialogue, cooperation and coexistence among followers of different religions.
Based on their radical doctrine and an examination of more than 50 Takfiri fatwas and tapes, these groups will view Pope of the Vatican's meeting with the top imam of Al Azhar and other Muslim leaderships as a betrayal of Islamic nation and an allegiance with "imams of disbelief", the observatory said.
It attributed such radical views to their total ignorance of Sharia rules and misinterpretation of verses of holy Quran that regulate relations with non-Muslims to serve their own deviant methodologies.
