An adviser to Egypt’s Mufti said many international circles concerned with terrorism-combat are interested in President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s initiative on renewing religious discourse, a statement by Darul Ifta quoted him as telling a US television on Friday.
Ibrahim Negm told CBS television that President Sisi was offering all needed support for Egyptian religious institutions in order to help them stabilize a moderate and modern Islamic discourse able to meet contemporary challenges.
In implantation of Egyptian Mufti Shawqi Allam’s strategy, Darul Ifta adopted an approach aiming to spread a moderate way of thinking, defend Islam and address the confusion caused by incorrect fatwas (religious opinions) abroad.
Meanwhile, Negm clarified that a right fatwa has been always an important tool to achieve societal stability and enhance social peace.
