Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al Abadi

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al Abadi asserted that the measures taken by the Iraqi government in Kirkuk are constitutional and legal,Al Sumaria TV reported.

Quoting a statement by Abadi's office, the Iraqi news channel said Abadi received a phone call from French President Emmanuel Macron as they discussed the recent deployment of the Iraqi troops in Kirkuk, the operations to fight terrorism and liberate the Iraqi territories from the remnants of Daesh terrorist group, along with mutual cooperation.

During their conversation, Marcon asserted his country's commitment to supporting the constitutional steps taken by the Iraqi government to maintain the unity of its territories.

He also underlined the importance of continuing the fight against Daesh.

On September 27, the French president reiterated his country's rejection of the referendum on Kurdistan region independence.
