Irish police said on Saturday they have deported eight foreign nationals caught on Monday at northern town Dundalk bordering Northern Ireland for violating immigration rules.
Several different nationalities were involved, a police statement said, adding that the eight people had made their way across the border after travelling from Britain to Northern Ireland.
The eight foreigners had been returned to the United Kingdom, the Irish police said.
Reports showed that some foreigners without proper documents were trying to enter Ireland from the United Kingdom after Britons voted to leave the European Union, of which Ireland is a member, in a referendum in June 2016.
