Jordanian and U.S. officials on Monday discussed ways to secure additional support to implement development programs targeting the Kingdom’s governorates.
This came during a meeting that brought together Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, Minister of Interior, Salamah Hammad, governors, U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Mission Director for Jordan, Jim Barnhart and U.S. Ambassador in Amman, Alice G. Wells.
Earlier, a joint team from the ministry of planning and USAID toured the Kingdom’s various governorates and discussed development-oriented needs and priorities of each governorate and prospects for funding projects that serve local communities.
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, said his ministry has been contacting donor nations and coordinating with them on priority development needs in each governorate in the Kingdom.
U.S. Ambassador, Alice G. Wells, commended the meetings organized by the ministry of planning with governors and local communities and hailed sectoral development programs designed by the ministry.
She said the mechanism by which the ministry prepared development programs represent a quantum leap in developmental planning.
