US Secretary of State John Kerry

US Secretary of State John Kerry stressed that Egypt plays an important role in fighting terrorism and achieving settlement in Yemen.

In statements ahead of his meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Kerry said Egypt also made big contributions to help address the conflict in Syria.

Egypt has been Egypt's partner for many years in addressing many issues in the region, he said.

He reiterated the US commitment to help Egypt fight terrorism.

Egypt is facing many difficult challenges and the US is working With Egypt to face the huge economic challenges the country is facing, he added.

Egypt makes up one third of Arab world population and will be always the heart of the Arab world, he said. It is also an important voice in supporting efforts taken to face current challenges in the region.
