Khartoum - Kuna
Kuwaiti-based charity, Direct Aid International, formerly known as Africa Muslims Agency, launched a humanitarian aid convoy on Saturday intended to reach those affected by the recent violence in Sudan\'s South Kordofan. The convoy consists of 10 trucks, each loaded with 120 tonnes of food, Direct Aid International\'s Sudan office told KUNA. The aid will be distributed amongst 1,000 families, and is enough to fulfill their needs for a month. The South Kordofan region has been witnessing armed confrontations between the Sudanese government and armed rebels in the south of the country for a month now. The struggle has thus far killed 70,000 according to UN estimates, while Sudanese President, Omar Al-Bashir has ordered raids on the rebels to continue.
