Putrajaya - Arab Today
Malaysia has asked the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to convene an emergency meeting of foreign ministers to discuss terror attacks in Islamic countries.
Foreign Minister Anifah Aman said the ministry had conveyed the request to the OIC but had yet to receive any confirmation on the proposed meeting, according to Malaysian Bernama news agency.
"I am not sure when the OIC secretary-general (Iyad Ameen Madani) will call the meeting. I have asked for it to be convened as soon as possible," Anifah told reporters when asked to comment on the recent terror attacks in Iraq, Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.
Anifah, who was approached at the Aidilfitri open house of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and cabinet ministers at Seri Perdana in Putrajaya, said the 57-member OIC had to take firm action to stop the violence.
