A group of 30 masked assailants in Gaza set fire to a resort complex and threatened employees, said Imad al-Wazeer, manager of the resort. In an interview with the Ma'an news agency, Wazeer said the complex boasts a swimming pool, restaurants and other facilities. He said the attack came before dawn Wednesday but did not detail the damage. It is the second time the resort has been targeted, the last time in 2008 during Israel's Operation Cast Lead, he said. After the end of the three week Israeli military offensive, Wazeer said he renovated the resort and reopened it to locals. "This time unfortunately, my resort was damaged by Palestinian hands," he told Ma'an, saying he holds Gaza police responsible for failing to provide the necessary protection. In the past Hamas activists have damaged U.N. sponsored summer camps in the Gaza Strip. Last June masked men tied up guards and slashed tents and an inflatable pool at one camp. A month earlier, masked gunmen slashed tents and set fire to storage facilities in another camp.
