Rabat - Arab Today
Morocco has helped French authorities arrest three individuals suspected of terrorism on Wednesday, reports Moroccan daily newspaper Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
Three terror suspects were arrested in the southern Parisian suburb of Villejuif, for alleged links to terror cells dismantled recently in Morocco. The newspaper wrote that the French police managed to make the arrests with the help of information provided by Moroccan security services.
The French police raided the suspect’s apartment, where they found dangerous products used to manufacture explosives, including 10 liters of homemade high explosives known as triacetone triperoxide (TATP) and gas cylinders. TATP is known as the ‘Mother of Satan’ by the so-called Islamic State (ISIS).
Al Ahdath Al Maghribia added that two suspects of Moroccan origin were arrested during this operation, and might have links to the perpetrators of the Barcelona terror attacks. The daily added that products seized in the operation were similar to those used by the Barcelona attackers.
Morocco has been strengthening its efforts to eradicate terrorism at home and abroad. On
September 6, Moroccan and Spanish security forces arrested five suspects in Nador, including one Spanish national of Moroccan descent, for their involvement in an ISIS-linked terrorist cell.
The accused were planning to carry out terrorist attacks in Morocco and Spain and had been preparing for attacks using bladed weapons.
