Jeddah - Arab Today
The Muslim World League (MWL) and the International Organization for Muslim Scholars (IUMS) Tuesday expressed their deep concern over the US Congress approval of legislation known as the "Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism”.
The MWL and the IUMS reject the legislation as it clearly and frankly contravenes the UN charter, the international law’s principles and the principles of international relations.
The issuance of such a law will threaten the stability of the international system and casts doubt on international ties, which in turn could cause global economic damage and lead to several negative consequences, Secretary General of the MWL Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al Issa said in a statement.
Also, he expressed hope that the US authorities would veto against the legislation that opens the floodgates for other countries to approve similar laws, that would negatively affect international efforts to fight terrorism and violate established international principles, based on the sovereign equality and the immunity of states.
