The Judicial Police Division has summoned the heads of a number of municipal councils, following charges made by the prosecutor-general of the Court of Appeal in Casablanca they had exploited their influence and embezzled public funds.
The mayor of the Bahrawis municipality was heard for four hours for the second consecutive time, having been accused of mismanagement, waste of public funds, and illegal enrichment, according to Al-Masa newspaper
The members of the National Police Division also conducted investigations in Hraouine and Medeouna areas to determine revenue amounts collected by municipal officials.
Two elected heads of municipalities will be heard for charges of monetarycrimes in conjunction with the judicial entry.
The investigations initiated by the judges of the Supreme Council of Accounts and the National Division focused on Casablanca and other members will be referred to the National Gendarmerie.
A number of current and former heads of municipalitiesface heavy charges of divesting public funds for suspicious transactions, some of which were requested by their recipients, and others given without solicitation.
