General Denis Mercier, NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, confirmed the organisation’s support to Egypt in its fight against terrorism during talks with Sameh Hassan Shoukry, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Thursday.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen relations between Egypt and NATO. This is considering the Egyptian diplomatic representation with NATO since mid-January 2017.

Shoukry expressed Egypt's aspiration to strengthen political dialogue with NATO on all levels, pointing out the successful examples of co-operation between them.

General Mercier praised the balanced Egyptian positions in the region, which aim at consolidating security and stability. He particularly spoke about the efforts to bring the Libyan parties together and reach full implementation of the Skhirat Agreement, as it is the general framework for resolving the Libyan crisis.
