NATO sources said on Tuesday the member states continued consultations on the developments in North Africa and the Middle East, pointing out that the alliance members were following up the developments closely.
According to an Italian TV channel, the alliance said it has no plan to play a military role in Libya or use the force in the North African country.
But the NATO, according to the Italian channel, expressed readiness to help the Libyan military upon a request by the national government in Libya.
