A NATO helicopters made a hard landing in eastern Afghanistan''s Paktia province on Monday, yet no casualties were reported. The NATO said there was no enemy activity in the area at the time, adding that the accident was under investigation. The helicopter was a CH-47 flying in to pick up special operations troops, but apparently suffered a mechanical failure and crash landed, an officer said. The crew was rescued by the troops. The hard landing came after another helicopter was apparently shot down on Saturday in eastern Wardak province, killing 38 people on board. Two US officials have said the chopper was rushing to help Army Rangers under attack.
