Martha's Vineyard - Arab Today
US President, Barack Obama, today declared that the American air raids had been able to break the siege imposed on Mount Sinjar in northern Iraq. And American forces carrying out reconnaissance missions there will be withdrawn.
President Obama said the US air strikes against ISIS militants will continue if they pose a threat to US employees and installations in the region, including the city of Erbil, capital of Kurdistan.
President Obama, from Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, where he is spending his vacation, added the situation on the mountain has greatly improved and we have helped to save many people. We don't expect to carry out additional operation to evacuate people off the mountain, and it is unlikely to continue humanitarian airdrops on the mountain.
