A delegation of the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) participated in the final session of the Sudan National Dialogue (SND) held on Monday.
Addressing the session, OIC Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs Abdullah Alim, who led the delegation, pointed out that the OIC participation in this meeting comes at an invitation from the Sudanese government.
In a statement issued by the OIC on Wednesday, Alim stressed the OIC support for the inter-Sudanese dialogue that sends a strong message to the world on the Sudanese people's ability to clinch compromises without any foreign interference that could complicate and prolong inter-Sudanese disputes.
Alim praised the courageous and responsible attitudes of the parties that declared their commitment to national dialogue, and reiterated the OIC call on the parties that did not participate and those that still carry weapons to undertake their historical responsibilities before the people of Sudan.
He called them to assume a spirit of sacrifice and reconciliation at this critical juncture of the history of Sudan and utilize this favorable opportunity to achieve peace in Sudan through participation in the comprehensive national dialogue process being the only option to resolve all the country's issues.
Ambassador Alim stressed the OIC commitment to promoting peace and stability in Sudan, one of the founding countries of OIC, and to establish the principle of Islamic solidarity.
