Ombudsman Nawaf Al Maawda has received a delegation from the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedoms (USCIRF) headed by Member of the Commission, Dwight Bashir.
The Ombudsman affirmed the Office’s keenness on international cooperation especially through continuous communication with diplomatic missions and delegations visiting the Kingdom of Bahrain, on human rights issues.
Al Maawda briefed the delegation about the Ombudsman’s role in boosting the protection of human rights within the Office’s jurisdictions and work areas.
The Kingdom of Bahrain’s establishment of the Ombudsman Office was an unpreceded initiative in the region, and provides its services to the general public transparently and impartially to enable their submitting complaints, requesting assistance regardless of ethnicity, religion or creed, he said.
The Ombudsman Office provides its services to residents and citizens as well as visitors under the criminal judiciary system involving other relevant institutions and entities concerned with the respecting of human rights, including the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission, he also said.
Osama Ahmed Al Asfoor Deputy Ombudsman and Ghada Habib Director for Development and International Cooperation were also present during the meeting.
