Head of the Palestinian General Delegation in Washington, Ambassador Ma’an Erekat, assured Tuesday the need for a wide American support to the Palestinian bid to gain UN recognition of a Palestinian state. Erekat said that there is a need for the Palestinian community, living in the United States, and the Americans’ support to pressure the American administration and congress to support the Palestinian move to the United Nations (UN) in September. In a meeting held in Washington and organized by the delegation, as one of its activities that support the Palestinian bid to UN in September, with the presence of a number of the Palestinian community members in the United States, Erekat said that the delegation prepared booklets containing information on how to support Palestinian bid. He said that it was agreed upon forming a committee of the Palestinian community to work on coordinating the activities supporting the Palestinian leadership in its move in September. The delegation continues its coordination with Palestinian and American parties in Washington and other states to hold activities, explain the Palestinian stance of going to UN and mobilize the necessary support for this bid.
