Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair Monday said Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi would inaugurate Lyari Expressway during the current month.
He said 1.5 kilometer strip between Hub River Road and Truck Stand was in need of repair as well as partial construction and he would take up the issue with the provincial and federal governments for its early reconstruction.
Talking to the office-bearers of Karachi Goods Carrier Association (KGCA) during his visit to its central office here, he said, “My responsibility is to help facilitate the people.”
Muhammad Zubair said the Green Line project, which was fast underway in the metropolis with the support of federal government, would be completed within the stipulated time period.
“Pakistan is on its way to progress and prosperity,” he said adding that as per requirement each and every stakeholder would be facilitated.
The governor said infrastructure development in the industrial areas was being accorded priority with equal attention towards up-gradation of means of transportation and communication on modern lines.
“M-9 project connecting Karachi and Hyderabad is a manifestation of this very approach,” he said.
He appreciated the contribution of goods transporters to the national economy and said being an important stakeholder their genuine concerns would be duly addressed.
KCGA President Noor Khan apprised the governor about challenges being faced by them and also thanked him for being the first government representative to visit their office in 20 years’ time.
