Qatar's delegation to the preparatory work for the second regular session of the Arab Parliament which began on Sunday at the Arab League General Secretariat in Cairo, highlighted the importance of this session as it discuss many issues related to joint Arab action in the political, economic, social and cultural rights. The members of the delegation also underlined Qatar's commitment to support the Arab Parliament and its different committees to advance areas of mutual cooperation between the countries of the region. During the various Arab Parliament meetings, the delegation presented proposals covering social, legal, political and legislative issues. Yousef Al-Khater, who represented Qatar before the Legislative, Legal Affairs and Human Rights Committee in the Arab Parliament, said that Qatar put forward proposals on various aspects of activating the role of the Arab Parliament. Al-Khater added Qatar made a proposal on a legislation to combat drug counterfeit that was adopted by the Council of Arab Health Ministers, noting that Qatari delegation to the meeting said that it was better to have this legislation in the form of a binding agreement due to the fact that smuggling of fake drugs is similar to drug smuggling and trafficking, a matter that must be addressed and resolved. The preparatory meetings were attended by Advisory Council members Dr Aisha Al-Mana, Mubarak Al-Ali, Nasser Al-Jaidah and Yousef Al-Khater.
