The Russian Navy is sending the Admiral Grigorovich-class frigate to Syria's territorial waters, Russia-based RIA Novosti reported on Thursday.

The Russian Navy is sending the Admiral Grigorovich-class frigate to Syria's territorial waters, Russia-based RIA Novosti reported on Thursday.

The Admiral Grigorovich is scheduled to join the Admiral Kuznetsov fleet that is already making its way to Syria's territorial waters.

The Admiral Grigorovich is comprised of six ships that are armed with air defense missiles.

"The function of Admiral Grigorovich class frigates are air defense, escorting of other warships and anti-submarine warfare. 

Some measures were taken to reduce the radar cross section of these new Russian warships. Though these frigates are not true stealthy vessels in any way.
