IRI Deputy FM in Arab and African Affairs here Wednesday evening advised Saudi officials to refrain from adopting hasty and un-thoughtful stands regarding fully erroneous and unfounded US scenario on plot to assassinate Saudi Ambassador to Washington. According to the IRNA Wednesday Night News Team, the Information and Media Office of the IRI Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported Wednesday night that Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a meeting Wednesday evening with Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Tehran emphasized that special care must be taken not to fall preys to the plots hatched to disturb regional countries’ relations, particularly by the Americans who have now resorted to a totally baseless claim, aimed at securing their illegitimate interests in the region. He said that the US anti-Iran scenario lacks all legal proofs and documents, reiterating, “The Islamic Republic of Iran itself has been a victim of terrorism, and is a country which is fully committed to the international rules and regulations, but the US officials resort to such baseless propagations aimed at securing special interests in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region.” The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister in Arab and African Affairs further emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is quite capable for countering any foreign threats, and advised Iran’s neighbors to treat such baseless accusations wisely and sagaciously. He meanwhile advised the entire regional countries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to play their roles in preservation of regional peace and security quite seriously. The Saudi Ambassador to Tehran, too, assuring the Iranian diplomat that he would reflect the Islamic Republic of Iran’s viewpoints to his country’s top officials, added, “The two countries’ relations are based on good neighborly ties, and we too, emphasize on need for maintaining alert and cautious in confrontation with accusations.”
